This classic heirloom variety cherished for its rich, sweet flesh and perfect pie-making texture. Known as the original pie pumpkin, Small Sugar produces compact, deep-orange fruits that deliver the flavor and quality home bakers love. Can be started indoors 3-4 weeks early if growing season is short, but does best sown directly in ground once soil is warmed. Once established, thin to 4-6 feet apart, leaving the strongest 2-3 plants per hill. Needs rich soil, lots of water and plenty of room for vines to spread.
